We started out stripping the multiple old layers of paint with a small side grinder and a paint stripping wheel but found it was to damaging. We found that a sharp hand scraper could get most of the paint off and a orbital power hand sander and 80 grit paper easily took care of the rest leaving a smooth surface.

I used Interlux VC performance paint on the bottom and Interlux Brightside above the waterline. They were both very easy to use and look really nice when done. I was fortunate to have several dry calm days over the coarse of 2 weeks to get this done. I used watertight to feather out the areas where we had used the side grinder.

Painting is done , stripes are on and the name is in place. I have also lowered the boat on the trailer by 8 inches and added a roller in place of block the bow was setting on. I also had to redo the bow hook because it was loose and way to high.
I epoxied a piece of red oak where the new bow hook is, epoxied it in place and filled the gaps between the wood block and the hull.
